NEW WORKSHOP!

ADVANCED CUBAN SALSA/RUEDA DE CASINO
Four-Week Workshop
Thursdays, 6:15pm to 7:30PM
Starts February 11th
$80

Permission of instructor required. To register, email Becky: africubandance@gmail.com

As one virtuosic dancer in Cuba once reminded me, Salsa literally means “mix”! Inspired by this idea, this workshop explores the possibilities of Salsa as an open-ended form that absorbs and grows with each dancers unique experiences, ideas, and spirit. We will practice leading and following intricate turn patterns, dancing “a tiempo (on 1)” and “contra-tiempo (on 2),” and learn rhythmically complex phrases of Salsa Suelta (free-style) that draw from a variety of Afro-Cuba dances. Students will find greater creative freedom as they deepen their connections to the music and to their partners.

Location: Flamenco Latino, 244-250 West 54th Street, 4th Floor (between Broadway and 8th Avenue)
